Steve McAdams joined Oracle in 1987 as a software engineer, and was there for over 18 years, departing as the VP of Content Management. During his tenure there, he helped create Oracle's desktop offerings, and Oracle's Desktop Products Group, was part of Oracle's core database development team and wrote part of the Oracle 7 database, invented and developed a workgroup-targeted BASIC-language database application development system called Oracle Power Objects, and invented and developed a content management system based on Oracle's database called the Oracle internet File System (iFS), and later the Oracle Content Management SDK.
In 2005, Steve joined Yahoo! as the Vice President of Small Business Engineering. There he was responsible for Yahoo!'s Small Business E-commerce platform, which powered over $2.5B in sales transactions per year for Yahoo!'s Small Business customers. He was also responsible for Yahoo!'s Web Hosting business, which boasted over 2MM paying subscribers. There, based on extensive customer research and "big data" analysis, his team created a revolutionary new way for small business customers to create websites for their businesses called Yahoo! Site Solution.
Steve joined SuccessFactors in 2008 as the VP of Enterprise Engineering, responsible for the development and maintenance of SuccessFactors' Enterprise applications. Steve lead a global team at SuccessFactors, located in San Mateo, Shanghai, and Bangalore, and was instrumental in creating SuccessFactors' Recruiting application, which helped fuel SuccessFactors' record-breaking growth for the duration of his tenure there.
Steve retired in 2010, and has subsequently pursued interests in mentorship, volunteering, angel investing, and philanthropy. Current interests also include general and experimental aviation, and swimming.
Steve graduated from the California Institute of Technology in 1987 with a BS in Electrical Engineering.
