Mr. Robert T. Jenkins (BS'65 ENG; MS'66 EE) TRUSTEE started his career at Fairchild Semiconductor Research and Development Laboratories as a process engineer in 1966. In 1968, he moved to Intel, where he held a variety of positions in wafer fabrication, ultimately leading that organization. He became manager of microprocessor/peripheral manufacturing in 1979 and general manager of the peripheral components division in 1980. In 1985, he relocated this organization to Folsom, California, and in 1986 was appointed vice president and general manager of the memory components division. In 1990, Jenkins was named vice president and director of corporate licensing, and in 1996 was also appointed chairman of Intel's government affairs committee, an organization that coordinated public policy and advocacy across the corporation. He retired from Intel in May 1999 and was an adjunct professor of communication studies at California State University, Sacramento, until 2010. Jenkins is past chairman of the board of the California Manufacturers and Technology Association and has also served on the boards of the Information Technology Industry Council and the American Electronics Association. While a student at Caltech, Jenkins was a member of Lloyd House, the water polo team, and the swim team, and he graduated with a BS Eng '65 and an MS EE '66. He was president of the Alumni Association in 2001–02 and president of the Associates in 2004–05.
