Dr. Clark's professional life has encompassed a wide range of engineering and management activities. Upon leaving Caltech in 1964 he spent the first half of his career in the aerospace and defense industries including stints with two leading west coast companies as well as a tour in the DoD. Moving to the Silicon Valley in 1986 his career evolved into what Peter describes as that of a "serial turnaround executive". Prior to retirement in 2010 he led eight different organizations, both public and private, whose activities spanned a wide range of disparate technologies. In retirement Dr. Clark is a willing mentor to Caltech graduates working in Northern California. Dr. Clark received a BEngPhys from McGill U. in 1960 and an MSc and PhD in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Caltech in 1961 and 1964. He received an Executive MBA from Pepperdine U. in 1981. He is a Life Fellow of the IEEE and a recipient of the 1984 IEEE Centennial Award. For his government service he received the ARPA Outstanding Service Award and the Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Award, for laser and space defense strategic initiatives. Peter and his wife Patricia reside in San Francisco. They are life members and President's Circle members of the Associates. Peter is a member of the Electrical Advisory Council and a life member of the Caltech Alumni Association.
