Dr. Jean Wang is the Chair of Caltech's Electrical Engineering Advisory Council as of March 2026, after serving as a member since 2023. Having scaled innovations from concept to market, she is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Management at Stanford University to expand her capabilities while advising early-stage startups.
Previously, Dr. Wang was a Director at Amazon, where she founded the smart eyewear program - driving the commercial launch of three generations of Echo Frames and establishing Project Amelia to enhance enterprise delivery driver safety and productivity. Prior to Amazon, she was a founding engineer of Google Glass (Google [X]) and an early member of the Google Life Sciences (Verily) surgical robotics initiative, which later became Verb Surgical (acquired by Johnson & Johnson). Over her tenure on Google Glass, she served as an optics engineer, Hardware Lead, and Chief of Staff through product market introduction.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Wang developed IP strategies at Intellectual Ventures and analyzed device performance for space applications at Northrop Grumman. She holds more than 30 patents.
In addition to her role at Caltech, Dr. Wang serves on the advisory board for the University of Washington's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She earned her BS in electrical engineering with honors from Caltech, and her MS and PhD from the University of Washington. She is a recipient of the NSF Graduate, Intel PhD, and Boeing Fellowships, as well as the UW College of Engineering Diamond Early Career Award.
