Gary was born in Newport News Virginia, was raised on a wheat farm north of Great Falls Montana, attended high school in Great Falls, and attended Caltech as both an undergraduate and graduate student. During his undergraduate years he conducted leading edge research in Rocket Science and solved a major issue with the Saturn Rocket. Following graduate school, he worked in aerospace for ten years solving major problems in electronics, rocket science, aerodynamics, and advanced technology management. In 1979 Gary started Monitor Dynamics, Inc. (MDI) in his garage. Gary was owner and CEO of MDI, but knew science, engineering, management and business. Soon MDI became the foremost company in the highest level of physical and intellectual property systems with clients such as the White House, Capitol Hill, the FBI, CIA, NRO, Department of State, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the Nevada test site (area 51), General Motors, Caterpillar, John Deere, B of A, American Express, large universities, major airports, and others too numerous to mention. Gary had the ability to take a problem that was unsolved, quickly find a solution, invent hardware and software to solve it, turn it into a product and a profitable business. Gary attributes his success to being educated at Caltech in several fields, combining this background to solve interdisciplinary problems and guiding the solutions to market.
